The prosecution’s case against Naresh Bhatt has featured disturbing evidence, surveillance footage and emotional testimony in the disappearance and presumed killing of his wife, Mamta Kafle Bhatt, whose body has never been found. Jurors have seen footage of Bhatt’s police interrogations, heard detectives describe blood evidence discovered inside the couple’s home, and watched surveillance videos that prosecutors say show him buying cleaning supplies and making multiple trips to dump heavy garbage bags. A lawn-care worker also testified that Bhatt gave him a saw as payment for yard work, which he later turned over to police after learning about the case. Bhatt has pleaded not guilty, and his defense has challenged the investigation and the evidence presented by prosecutors.
