Tonight we are watching the **Perseid Meteor Shower 2026 LIVE** from multiple backyard sky cameras! Join me as we watch the night sky in real time and wait for Perseid meteors, bright fireballs, long meteor trails, and anything unexpected that appears overhead.
The **Perseid meteor shower** is one of the most famous annual meteor showers, produced by debris left behind by **Comet 109P/Swift-Tuttle**. Every year, Earth passes through this stream of comet debris. Tiny particles enter our atmosphere at tremendous speeds and produce the brilliant streaks of light we call meteors.
☄️ **TONIGHT LIVE, AUGUST 12, 2026**
We will be watching multiple areas of the sky using **LIVE backyard views**, giving us a better chance of catching meteors as they happen.
🔴 **WHAT WE’LL BE WATCHING FOR**
• Perseid meteors LIVE
• Bright Perseid fireballs
• Long meteor trails
• Multiple LIVE backyard sky views
• The Perseid radiant near Perseus
• Satellites and other objects crossing the sky
• Unexpected activity in the night sky
• LIVE discussion and Q&A
The Perseids are known for producing **fast, bright meteors and occasional spectacular fireballs**. You never know exactly when the next bright one will appear, so keep watching the sky.
🌠 **WHY ARE THEY CALLED THE PERSEIDS?**
If you trace the meteor paths backward across the sky, they appear to originate from an area near the constellation **Perseus**. This apparent point of origin is called the **radiant**.
☄️ **PARENT COMET: 109P/SWIFT-TUTTLE**
The Perseid meteoroid stream comes from Comet Swift-Tuttle. As Earth encounters material distributed along the comet’s orbit, particles collide with our atmosphere and produce the Perseid meteor shower.
📍 **LIVE FROM TEXAS**
I’ll be watching from **Leander, Texas**, using my backyard astronomy setup and multiple views of the night sky.
If you see a meteor before I do, **call it out in the LIVE chat and tell everyone where you saw it on the screen!**

Please can you tell the watchers, which type of chemical composition the Perseus shower consists of ? Which chemical are left in the mesosphere , and ready to filter into Earth ?
Thank you
I went to a dark place and saw 11 in 2.5 hours. What a disappointment
Yeah same here, cloud conditions weren’t ideal but even when it was clear it felt underwhelming
2 in 2 hrs😢
@juliethomas3499every year is different so don’t get too disheartened.
Hi Ray, thanks for your work, here in germany i have seen only 1 😅
I didn’t even know this was coming. I am in Central Florida and I just happened to be outside around midnight and saw one of the brightest meteors I have ever seen. It was quite firery.
Oppose to local media groups and social apps we were expected 8x what we seem last nite… was a great show but I’m sure we all expected more to happen …tired of media man I we keep getting burned !
Around 2.20 am A meteor massive, and of long duration came in from the southwest, heading northeast. It was white,as it got directly over my head,it exploded, and I actually saw the little boulders ,by this time,it had turned a reddish, brown. Absolutely amazing. Was wondering if anyone had captured it. This was over London,U.K….?????!!!!!!! 13th.
Like and hype the video
