@isabellind1292 so she had to pay millions of his legal bills? that’s not right. Didn’t he already get millions of her money while being the conservator? From what I’ve read, Britney settled out of court because she understandably just wanted to be done with the court case, and she wanted to sever her legal ties to him after more than a decade.

Since Britney was capable of performing memorized songs and choreographed dances in front of millions of fans, hundreds of times, while making millions for herself and her family, giving countless interviews, and starring on a TV show, there’s no way she’d end up “homeless or worse” if she was allowed to be in charge of her own life. Conservatorships are typically reserved for those with severe cognitive impairments, like advanced dementia, who cannot comprehend money (or music, or coordination/dancing, etc).

You don’t have to like Britney or her music. But no American, no human being, should be vio lated, mistreated, and harassed like Britney was. There’s so much wrong about the conservatorship, such as a lack of proof that she even had a mental disorder that would constitute putting her in a conservatorship in the first place. Plus, was there not a conflict of interest (financial gain) of the conservator, because wasn’t Britney’s dad bankrupt?

Not sure why you’re so passionate about defending a guy whose own daughters and wife admit is an alcoholic who was barely present for his children for a time, and said he was verbally abusive and had erratic behavior, according to Page Six. This is the same dad who profited off of her forced s exualization under his management. Gross. Rather than vindication, lately, the only thing he’s likely feeling is the amputation.

Celeb or not, no abuse victim should ever “shut up” and give up on pursuing justice, like you seem to advocate.

Britney’s career started before what you claim happened (that she made a career out of making up false claims…), ie. her singing and dancing. Her conservatorship was not her choice. Nothing within that was her choice, because by definition, she had no power in that dynamic.

Britney has freedom of speech to voice her views and experiences. You don’t have to agree with, or even read, her comments. Some of Britney’s posts are probably in response to other’s public comments about her, and there’s nothing wrong with wanting to put your perspective out there too, so that people can see both sides.

Wasn’t it calculating that the rushed initial diagnosis of the doctors (chosen by Britney’s dad), used to put Britney in the conservatorship, was deemed private due to patient confidentiality? The physicians who evaluated and treated her were also chosen by the one profiting from the conservatorship, which is a conflict of interest, is it not? Her dad had an alcohol addiction, bankruptcy, and later on a DV restraining order, so he really had no business being in control of anyone else’s life, since he had his own issues to deal with.

Are you saying you don’t think there’s a chance that Britney was surveilled or otherwise mistreated, in a situation where she had no legal rights and had no say in where her own millions of $$ went? In 2021, Britney already testified in court about her experiences. From a viewer’s perspective, Britney clearly didn’t have dementia, because if she did, she couldn’t perform songs or choreographed dances. Yet, wasn’t that the excuse to put her in a conservatorship?

As I mentioned earlier, it’s said that she settled out of court because she wanted to be done with the lengthy court case, plus, to stop her finances being drained further. After 13 years, I think a lot of people would do the same. This result doesn’t automatically mean that she didn’t go through some horrible experiences, while she had her rights taken away and others controlled where her money went.

I don’t care about the specifics of her finances, and I don’t have all the facts. I’m no expert, but it’s said that her attorneys agreed to pay the $2.12 M because: it says that under California probate laws, a conservator’s legal expenses can be billed directly to the conservatee’s estate. Every motion filed by her team to expose any mistreatment meant more billable hours for her dad’s attorneys, all funded by her bank account. Britney was essentially forced to pay for both sides of the battle. Since Britney wanted to be free to control her own time, body, money, and her own life, true victory meant walking away from all of that, not prolonging a grueling court case.

In sum, I simply don’t think it’s right for Americans or anyone else to be stripped of their rights, and micromanaged for years and years by those who stand to gain financially. Fortunately, Britney indirectly helped out many other vulnerable people who could’ve been treated horribly, but now have some protections. As a result, the Free Britney bill/AB 1194 and AB 1663 both passed.
