Jury selection begins for Massachusetts mom Lindsay Clancy after she killed her three young children inside the family’s home in January 2023 before attempting to take her own life. Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months, were found with exercise bands around their necks. Prosecutors contend Clancy intentionally strangled the children, while her defense argues she was suffering from severe postpartum depression and psychosis that left her unable to understand her actions. Jurors are expected to hear testimony from medical experts, investigators, and family members as they determine whether Clancy is criminally responsible for her children’s deaths.

Prosecutors act like someone with ppp is rational when it’s convenient for them but that people with ppp lose all their intelligence. “Well she kept a detailed journal.” “Well she sent her husband to a far away restaurant so she could kill the kids.” You don’t know when she was having homicidal/suicidal thoughts and when she wasn’t. The medical system failed her. She needed more than five days in the psych hospital. Was that all that insurance was willing to cover? Did the doctor allow the insurance company to sway his decision to discharge? Was the experience of the physician with post partum psychosis limited? This woman knew she was psychotic and the medical community was giving her inadequate care. She’s being treated like abused women who kill their husbands before they themselves are killed by their abusers and then are told “why didn’t you just leave?” Because they have impaired decision making abilities! We are doing a poor job with mental health and healthcare in general. Mental healthcare suffers the most.
Totally disagree husband did not do enough!!!!!!!!
This prosecution has a sadistic streak – hefty for emotion dialogue
Why did she think no one would take good care of the children if she committed suiside? Wherr & who is the grandparents of the children?
There is more to this story.
The relationship of this couple?
My question is if the husband knew she was so psychotic why did he leave her with the children?
Anyone aware at all that refusing treatment is part of mental illness? As a nurse I’m sure Lindsay was aware she was being underserved by the hospital whether it was due to being a holiday weekend or being part of “group therapy” by hospital staff who most likely are less credentialed than Lindsay herself is? She was aware she had ppp, that she was becoming dangerous to herself and others, that she admits herself into a psych hospital where she is being treated by under qualified people while her husband is at home trying to juggle his job with three kids. No wonder she checked herself out. The doctors could have pink slipped her but I’m sure they never spent enough time with her to determine that she was unsafe. The healthcare system failed Lindsay, Patrick, Cora, Dawson and Callan. They should be on trial.
Murder charge is wrong on this case. She tried to get help but couldn’t receive it. She probably suffered neurotoxicity from drugs but was kept on them. This is negligent. Psychosis can happen at any time and children should’ve never been left alone with her after she stated homicidal thoughts.
