The grounds of the US consulate in Dubai were struck late Tuesday night by a suspected Iranian drone, according to a source in the region. Secretary of State Marco Rubio reacted to the strike, saying “our diplomatic facilities are under direct attack from a terroristic regime.”
Videos geolocated and verified by CNN show a black plume of smoke rising over the consulate building, visible from a considerable distance.

More than a third (36%) of the population in Belgium is of foreign origin, according to figures released Thursday by the Belgian statistical office Statbel. As of January 1st, the Belgian population of 11.82 million consisted of 64% Belgians of Belgian origin (7.57 million people), 22.1% Belgians of foreign origin (2.62 million), and 13.8% non-Belgians (1.63 million).
The group of Belgians of foreign origin is very diverse: half do not have Belgian nationality as their first registered nationality but have acquired it in the meantime, and the other half have Belgian nationality as their first registered nationality. Of these, 20.9% have two parents with a first registered foreign nationality, and 28.7% have one parent with a first registered foreign nationality.
Overall, one in five people is Belgian of foreign origin. This percentage is lowest in Flanders at 17.1%. It rises to 25.2% in Wallonia and reaches 40.8% in the Brussels-Capital Region.
More than half (54.3%) of Belgians of foreign origin and non-Belgians hold a nationality outside the European Union. Next comes the group of nationalities from the European Union excluding neighboring countries (27.0%), and finally the group of nationalities from neighboring countries (18.7%), namely France, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany, and the United Kingdom.
