This is a story that is going to make every San Francisco 49ers fan do a very long double-take. Jed York, the 46 year old principal owner of the San Francisco 49ers — one of the most valuable NFL franchises in the world at an estimated $8.5 billion dollars — was arrested this past Sunday in East Palestine, Ohio. The arrest came as part of an undercover sting operation run by the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force. According to court documents, investigators had posted an undercover advertisement on a known prostitution website. York allegedly responded to the ad, arranged to meet a woman for sex in exchange for $140, and arrived at the Wheat Hill Mobile Home Community with the cell phone used to set up the meeting. He was arrested on the spot, posted $5,000 bail, and was released the same day. By Monday morning he had pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and possessing criminal tools, and paid a fine of $1,150. The NFL has confirmed it is reviewing the matter under its Personal Conduct Policy. The 49ers season opener is just 19 days away, and this is almost certainly the last story the organization wanted to be dealing with heading into the new season.
