What a gorgeous home. Sadly the furniture and lighting is so off base for this house. It does not harken back to the age of the home. The outside gives the feeling of walking into the past and once the door is opened you walk in to 20??. Huge disappointment. The young lady did many jobs without safety glasses. Very irresponsible!!!

First of all, Pride flags in an Iowa town of 8000 people? Wow! Second, sorry but I have to agree with the comments–though I am a minimalist myself, these interiors are all wrong. On their own, they’re not bad…just not in this kind of old house. But at the end of the day, it’s not my house and if it makes the owner happy, that’s all that matters. Oh wait, and kudos to her for saving and restoring the house, of course!
Ugh. Had such high hopes for what this would look like “restored”. Huge disappointment to see its original character covered up by black and white paint. Massive miss.
Why save an old house then fill it with awful modern clinical furniture!!! This lady should stick to modern houses in LA. 😭
The house itself is beautiful. However, the decor chosen and the kitchen remodel just doesn’t fit the style of the house sadly. Also I didn’t understand her issue with the piano. I would have just left it how it was originally and had it cleaned up . It’s a piece of history and gorgeous even if you couldn’t play it ..
The exterior is fabulous. The interior has lost any semblance of classic and traditional elegance. If I were going to put the time, effort, and money into restoring a beauty like this, I would also hire and interior decorator if I skilled in such things.
Another Iowa farm girl who grew up in a 1898 old farm house and bought the family home, here. Don’t let the stupid comments be discouraging. I guess you should have done one of those *insert record scratch sounds* and shout, “No one wants to live like they did 150 years ago!” and “they are lenient on kitchens and bathrooms.” What if you hadn’t done the restoration? Keep going, wish you the best.
