I saw this in the theater when I was a kid. My favorite “civil rights movie.” Great performances by everyone involved.
The good the bad and the ugly
I’m watching this movie right now, on TV. KZMM-CD. No cable or Internet. Sad… They need to show this Movie, in elementary schools. I know in these times, it’s hard to understand. Much less, pay attention, since it’s not Sci-fi, Animated, or Blockbuster material. The Message, is what Matters. I wish I lived there, In those times. Make a Real difference, for the Future… Hail Satan… 666…
Saw this as a kid with my family at the Whetstone Drive In, in the Boogie Down Bronx. Really did not remember it, so this was an awesome rediscovery. Great movie, Jim Brown at his best and course Goerge Kennedy. Did not realize Bernie Casey was in this movie. Making him and Jim Brown two former NFL standouts. Of course, Jim Brown might be the best all around athlete to ever put on a pair of cleats, but Casey, the former 49er running back was hell of a track star in college. Great to see these guys paired up. Also, about 5 years after this film was released, Anthony James (Tolber), the tall lanky guy in the red pickup, would play the creepy demon chauffeur in the awesome horror classic Burnt Offerings. That old Model T Hearst, pale white skin, with the dark shades and wide evil smile freaked me out for years.
A compelling, powerful film highlighting racial tension and leadership, with outstanding performances. A must-watch classic examining America’s history.
Good Sheriff? Loading you gun at the kitchen table with children right in front of you aint a good start
