Jill Ann Spaulding wanted nothing more than to grace the pages of Playboy magazine – and she was willing to do almost anything to make her dream come true. After committing to perfecting “the Playmate look,” Jill Ann becomes a Cyber Girl, and manages to invite herself for a five day stay at the Playboy Mansion. In those five days, she gets a crash course on the Hugh Hefner girlfriend experience – night clubs, salon perks, and participation his the bedroom rituals. Over time, Jill Ann falls out of favor with the seven girlfriends, and eventually finds herself uninvited from all Playboy parties. In her rage over this betrayal, she self-published a scathing tell-all about her experience at the Mansion, leaving absolutely no secret spared.
We are reading and recapping “Upstairs” (also “Hefnerland”) by Jill Ann Spaulding, 2004. In 2017, Jill Ann Spaulding was a victim of a double murder suicide by her then-ex husband.

I’ve read the book…she definitely spills the tea 😅
Re: Playboy golf – yes it was a sponsored event. 2005-2008 my roommate at the time was a playboy playmate whose centerfold was the year before. LA is kind of an isolating place, her last roommate kind of kept to herself and she was a little over having mansion events being the center of her social world. We hit it off fast and did the fun shit you did while in your 20s drunken brunches at saddle ranch, going to clubs and parties dancing at the Abbey. Anyway her year was up and PB promotions turned into a situation where they stopped calling you had to call into them if you wanted to make extra money do side gigs or she would occasionally get offers to host B list nightclub nights in LA and San Diego and needed approval from them. Those gigs and Playboy golf were the big money makers. Because she hated going to mansion or playboy events alone, she had Jenny put me on the mansion list for select parties and events. I was approved and the 3rd or so event I was invited to was Playboy Golf (guests on the mansion list were comped for the two events that opened and closed the weekend everyone else it was like $500 to $1000) My roommate had this look of dread getting ready for the weekend and was every so often dropping a thanking me for coming with her…which kinda started making me nervous what the hell we were getting into.
Friday nights was the opening party in the Roosevelt Hotel Lobby and that event space off into the side. It’s was packed with tons of women and 40/50 year old men. I was maybe 3 or 4 guys in attendance that were in their 20s and “bro I’m gay” was my repeated mantra for the night assuring a bunch of elderly men scowling at me I’m not here for their women, calm down. My roommate literally had to work playing bottle service to the dudes she was assigned to and sit at their table laugh at their jokes. Me being nosy I learned other than mid summers that Playboy Golf LA was the second biggest event of the year as they were Playboys biggest non advertising sponsors after the people doing the Wet and Wild event Las Vegas ended their relationship for whatever reason. It wasn’t like a mansion party where everyone was good looking and having a blast. Midnight hit and my roommate hunted me down we could not get out of there fast enough. I didn’t go to the golf event but she was a glorified bar/caddy girl then she had to go to the mansion where she had to go play bottle service girl for several hours on top of the caddy work she did. Then at some point those duties ended and was expected to be “fun and sexy” on the dance floor. When I showed up the whole thing was sad and gross a bunch of old guys encircling a dance floor of exhausted women who were shaking their asses, giggling and tossing their hair around performatively occasional a girl would flash a camera and the old men mumbled and nodded approvingly feeling they got their moneys worth and a “playboy mansion experience”
She made $4k that weekend. It was the only weekend she really dreaded. But she worked it every year. When she moved out to live with her boyfriend we would occasionally go out for drinks and dinner a couple of mansion parties but suddenly quit everything playboy when The Karma Foundation came in. She won’t talk about it. I got invited as a playboy guest to the Playboy Karma Foundation Halloween party in 2011 and I got exactly why she would change the subject or didn’t want to talk about playboy after that and I never went back to the mansion again. If you ever Deep dive the Karma Foundation sponsorship years at the mansion prepare yourself. You will feel unclean.
She sounds like the definition of a clout chaser!
Obsessed with your playboy deep dives, Laura! 😍
Knowing how the story ends I believe her father threatened Bruce for reasons other than the age gap
I read this book a long time ago. I felt conflicted on how to feel about it. I admire her determination, but it was a bit creepy. I feel bad she was killed. That’s terrible.

Unpopular opinion; I think she had every right to expose what goes on upstairs.. For years the Playboy world painted a false PG narrative of an innocent sorority life with happy bunnies hopping about with Hef depicted as a kindly old eccentric Grandpa.. Yes, she wanted into the Playboy world, wasn’t successful and perhaps was a bit bitter but the mean girls also manipulated the newbies and lied to them about what was honestly expected of them..
exactly. before she exposed this, literally all the girlfriends said they had no idea sx was expected and were caught off guard when inebriated and manipulated. things like this being kept a secret is how he was able to get away with it for so long
The desperation of these people need to be studied.
I thought there was an age limit with being at the mansion? She looks like a hard 40+.. she also seems like a snake, lurking around taking photos, pushing herself into the scene, and then talking herself up in her book. I don’t believe half the stuff she wrote. She infiltrated the place and then wrote a fantasy book out of spite for not being accepted. Posting other people’s nude photos without their consent just shows how tacky she was. She comes across as very unlikeable, vindictive and a bit of a stalker.. My opinions.
Where do you get the pdf with the photos ? The one I read had no photos
I thought about applying to PB. I did the yacht thing a few times, but after one bad night when I had to escape, I stopped once we were docked. I also worked at Hooters and a few other establishments. I got pregnant young, and that put an end to that chapter of my life. I always used to think, man, I missed out, but hearing all the horror stories now, I really think God had my back. Excellent video! ❤
So well done!
Pretty sure they developed the film at the mansion. They could have as many copies of anything they wanted. Could be wrong
