The concept behind Neko Health is straightforward but genuinely compelling. For $499, you get a one-hour, completely radiation-free full body scan that captures millions of individual health data points through a combination of proprietary cameras, lasers, radar technology and blood analysis. The scan screens for early warning signs of heart disease, pre-diabetes, skin cancer and metabolic disorders, and both your results and a doctor’s review are delivered to you on the same day you walk in. The company is not a small startup quietly testing a concept. Neko Health raised $700 million in funding this past July alone. Its backers include Mark Zuckerberg, supermodel Claudia Schiffer and tennis legend Maria Sharapova. The global waitlist currently sits at over 350,000 people. And the SoHo clinic specifically already has 50,000 people waiting to get through the door. The broader cultural moment around full body scanning has also been accelerating, driven in part by celebrities including Karlie Kloss, Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian publicly embracing the technology and bringing mainstream attention to what many doctors have long argued should be a standard part of preventive healthcare for everyone. The retention numbers are equally striking. Seventy-five percent of Neko members book and pay for their next scan before they even leave the clinic after their first visit. The company plans to open a second New York location in the new year, with an ambitious goal of expanding to clinics right across the United States.
