These idiots all sit here and act like it was Bret’s fault for the screw job because he turned down multiple scenarios. I’m sorry, that why he put it into his damn contract, he earned that right. Also, shawn Michaels literally did the same thing to him in the beginning of 97 when he refused to drop the belt to Bret, instead faked an injury, which vacated the belt, then needed a 4 way fight for the title at in your house 97 which Bret won for the title. So why would Bret put shawn over when he contractually didn’t have to, especially when Shawn wouldn’t. I’m sure Vince thought this is my company, no one tells me who wins and loses or how they lose in my company, well hey dumbass, don’t allow someone to put complete creative control of their character in their contract. Bret may have had an ego, as did every single wrestler at that time, but his only real issue was how much this stuff mattered to him. Being the champ wasn’t a job to him, it actually mattered to him. Honestly I understand why he’s never fully forgiven shawn and Vince, even though they’ve done interviews or he’s been on raw, it’s because he was dealt a messed up hand with the screwjob by someone he trusted, and then unfortunately it got compounded by that idiot Goldberg injuring Bret in wcw. I’m sure he figured his last 10+ years as a wrestler were robbed from him. Ultimately he’s not wrong when you see undertaker wrestling in 2019, who knows how long Bret goes without the screwjob and/or Goldberg.
