Let me tell you about three publications and what their ownership structure reveals about how the celebrity gossip ecosystem operates and why it matters for coverage of Meghan and Harry.
The research tells an interesting story. Radar Online was acquired by Empire Media Group in 2021.
OK Magazine US also operates under Empire Media Group as its parent company.
So those two publications share a corporate parent. Empire Media Group itself has undergone further corporate changes, with a360media merging with McClatchy in December 2024, forming the McClatchy Media Company.
W
Wonderwall has a slightly different history. It was originally launched by MSN in partnership with BermanBraun in 2009.
Its current domain contact points to Whalerock Industries, founded by entertainment industry veteran Lloyd Braun.
So Wonderwall operates under different ownership than Radar and OK, though all three frequently aggregate and cross-reference each other’s content, creating the appearance of multiple independent sources confirming the same story when in reality the content is often circulating within the same ecosystem.
And here is why this matters specifically for coverage of Harry and Meghan.
Radar Online’s history includes an early relaunch in 2005 with backing that included, remarkably, pre-scandal Jeffrey Epstein. Some sources speculated that its subsequent folding was linked to a backer learning of the Epstein investigation. That is not a minor historical footnote given everything happening this week.
Under American Media Inc., Radar Online, OK Magazine, the National Enquirer and several other publications operated under unified editorial oversight, with the same person serving as editorial director across multiple titles.
This means stories could be originated in one publication, confirmed by another under the same ownership, and presented to readers as independent corroboration.
This is the structure that produces what Benjamin Ryan described this week. He spent a year reading two thousand articles about Meghan and never found a reliable named source on the record saying she had actually done something bad. When publications within the same corporate ecosystem generate and amplify the same anonymous claims, the volume creates an impression of consensus that does not reflect independent verification. One unnamed source becomes the basis of a piece in Radar. Radar gets picked up by OK. Wonderwall aggregates both. Three publications appear to be reporting the same thing. They are often reporting one thing, once, from the same direction.
Add to this the point about AI-generated content which multiple people in the replies noted. The celebrity gossip market has increasingly moved toward algorithmically generated pieces that use templates, insert names and produce volume rather than reporting. This is not journalism in any meaningful sense. It is content production designed to capture search traffic on celebrity names. The bylines are often fake or shared across multiple pieces. The quotes are often pulled from other sources without verification. The unnamed sources are the same unnamed sources recycled across different sites.
The advice to block these three publications is sound not because they are wrong about everything but because their business model does not reward accuracy. It rewards volume, engagement and the particular kind of outrage that drives clicks. Meghan’s name in a headline generates clicks. Negative Meghan content generates more clicks than positive Meghan content because the audience that has been cultivated around her coverage skews toward people who want the negative story confirmed.
And as Richard Palmer reported this week, palace staff are about to be questioned in the widening Andrew investigation.
The timing of the volume of negative Sussex content across exactly these kinds of publications this week is worth noting.
Block them.
Note the timing.
And follow the ownership.

Why isn’t this illegal, and why can’t Harry and Meghan SUE… And they need to go to jail!!!!
Great reporting Dame Elizabeth 🎉. I hope one day the Sussexes are able to sue the originators of slander and lies! Could you explain some more the DONT ENGAGE part ‼️ I think bots are also generating revenue for writers of slander 😢
The don’t engage is do not click or visit the site at all because that counts as a real person interaction they can show to advertisers. And yes there is also the use of bots that some countries find illegal.
I think it’s more than money. It’s the ploy to obliterate Harry and Meghan Sussex , But Failing Miserably. They keep increasing in Stature , Character and pre- eminence in the Royal Dynasty spaces.
Ms Elizabeth i can’t wait for the book 🙏❤️.
Me too Ms Elaine. The problem I have is what to leave in and what to take out. I believe Harry when he said he had another 400 pages.
I look forward to your book.
So do I Lydia. I’m hoping to get it out this year for sure.
