The Doctor and Peri face mortal danger when they investigate the caves of Androzani Minor. Mistaken for gun-runners by General Chellak’s soldiers, they are sentenced to death but rescued by Sharaz Jek, a hideously disfigured ex-scientist plotting revenge on the corrupt industrialist Morgus, who caused his disfigurement. Caught in the middle of a brutal conflict, the Doctor and Peri discover they are suffering from Spectrox Toxoemia, a progressively fatal condition that can only be cured by the milk of a rare bat. As the effects worsen, can the Doctor find the antidote in time?
