4:24 This raises a fundamental question: The U.S. Department of Justice filed a civil forfeiture case seeking to seize the assets of a foreign national. How, exactly, does U.S. domestic law apply to a citizen of another sovereign nation? I wish Forbes would explore that question more deeply, because the legal and jurisdictional implications are significant. What’s to stop China—or any other nation, for that matter—from invoking some arbitrary domestic law to seize the assets of an American citizen?
