Great show, but as a respiratory therapist that works in the ED all the time. Medical shows never represent us very well.
Noah Wyle said they heard this critique loud and clear and there will be better RT representation in S2.
All we can do is keep trying to the impossible, this is the first show I’ve seen bring medical professionals to tears in a meaningful way about their own careers and how it’s being represented on TV. That used to be considered boring and impossible. I can only hope they keep taking notes from medical professionals and make adjustments as they can.

Besides being so realistic, I love, compared to other medical shows that are more like a soap opera. I also think that it is great at putting the right doctor that can use their specific gift to connect with a patient. I have had some horrible ER staff and a few, including our hospital’s chief trauma surgery. So on the show it is great to see that perhaps Dr. L tries to reach a patient, but has trouble connecting, but another who perhaps has experienced something like this patient so knows what that patient needs to trust a doctor .
I understand she wants to be responsive to her cohost when he is talking, but all her “hm” and “yea” are driving me into rage.
