Spain totally outclassed Argentina. The main reason Argentina played so badly and negatively is because Spain didn’t gave them any chance.
I’m so mad at how Argentina acted throughout, but the way Argentina sold their injuries is a factor in why I think football isn’t going to get big in the US. Seeing that makes football players look disgustingly weak.
This frustrates me because I would love to see football get bigger here.
I understand malingering over an injury gives a team advantage*, but in the US it much more looked down on as weak@ss behavior.
We’re used to American football players fighting through injuries or getting laid out on a stretcher as the crowd cheers they put an “I’m okay” thumb up. I think this is a bad thing, but I need to explaining the culture here.
I feel that Argentina didn’t do the sport favors in popularity to newcomers.
*(Playing up injuries does happen here, especially in basketball but it carries a much heavier judgement. And being hurt in pro-basketball is understandable since they’re nearly all giants.)
