Many Filipino voters doubt election surveys because of low public trust in political institutions and the perception that money and influence can shape public opinion. Many believe survey firms are paid by candidates or their supporters to create a “bandwagon effect,” making certain candidates appear more popular than they really are.
While there is no evidence that reputable survey organizations routinely manipulate results for paying clients, these suspicions are fueled by political polarization, misinformation, and past experiences with corruption in other sectors.
As a result, many voters question whether surveys reflect genuine public sentiment or are being used as tools to influence voting behavior rather than simply measure it.
