A tariff cannot be imposed on goods. Goods have ZERO ability to pay any taxes. The tariffs are paid by those who IMPORT those goods. The headline should read 50% tariff ON THE IMPORTERS of Canadian goods.

Using tariffs to extort America’s previous allies is OK for a criminal, is’t it? They are no longer allies, so why not bully them any way we can?

What’s interesting is that Congress originally gave the president tariff powers because it used to be the case that most US presidents were more anti tariff than the Congress itself. Trump is the first pro tariff president we’ve had in more than a century. This power never should have been given to the president in the first place and I believe that the supreme court would strike it down it if landed in their lap.
