The excavation of an ancient Egyptian tomb unleashes the evil Sutekh, last of the Osirians, who was imprisoned millennia ago by his own people. As Sutekh attempts to build a time/space bridge between his tomb prison and an English manor house, the Doctor (Tom Baker) and Sarah (Elisabeth Sladen) are drawn off course by a mysterious force and arrive in England at the turn of the 20th century. With dark forces from aeons ago beginning to stir, the future of life on Earth is at stake as Sutekh breaks free from his ancient prison, and no power in the universe can stand in his way.

Anyone find the Doctor’s speech at the beginning to be off-putting and obnoxious? I know that the Doctor and Unit had their disagreements and the Unit era the result of executive meddling, but it’s kind of jarring that the Fourth Doctor (and the writers) go out of their way to slag it and have the Doctor act all haughty and dismissive of his time on Earth and with Unit….

No, it was iconic. He spent years exiled to Earth and was itching to get back into time & space, especially with a younger regeneration.

so when they build on this that he clung to the TARDIS, and that the created openings for all those weirdlings, one of which mentioned something about breaking the Doctor’s timeline, scrambling his past (and future?) and that is my long-winded way of saying, Jo martin should be the 17th (16?) Doctor. all that “past lfe” stuff was a LIE!!?
