With several other projects under his belt, local Detroiter and investor Darius Smith restores and renovates an abandoned and long-forgotten foursquare house with hopes of bringing new life and new families back to Detroit’s Virginia Park neighborhood.
Owners tackle the tough job of renovating a space left behind and transforming it into a beautiful unique home. Whether they are saving an unconventional building or rescuing a home left to disrepair, owners make the space their own with a lot of creativity, vision and sweat equity.

So it’s a one bedroom house?
Omg, the couches still had the plastic covering on it!
I love the way you’re keeping as much of the old things as you can–it really shows a respect for the house and lets it shine for what it is rather than trying to pretend it’s something different.
Great job from Columbus Ohio

My parents grew up in Detroit in the 40s and 50s. Their neighborhoods were loaded with kids and families, alive with bicycles and mischief, people meeting and marrying and friends still friends today, so many decades later. It’s wonderful to see a revitalization of the homes and neighborhoods.
Darius, I grew up in Detroit as well. Crime, drugs, and crooked politicians are what caused the demise of Detroit!
Great video. It is really important to save these beautiful homes.
