Astronomers, using the Webb telescope, have found the oldest galaxy to date. It’s called MoM-z14, and we’re seeing it as it was when the universe was just a baby, barely 280 million years old.

No we didn’t, not even close to close.
Wait, what about the galaxy called F200DB-045? It has an unconfirmed redshift of z=20.4. It’s massive, bright and fully mature. A much higher redshift than MoM z14. It also appears to contain a SMBH in it’s core weighing 100 million solar masses. It’s supposed to be young, small, dim and diffuse, born shortly after the big bang, but it has completely stumped astronomers and cosmologists alike. So much confusion that they had to revise the redshift distance ladder to keep the galaxy from appearing to be born before the big bang even happened. That’s about the time they began calling these high redshift galaxies Universe Breakers because they broke all the rules. Yet, when they revised the redshift distance ladder it brought upon the Hubble tension because now all the other methods for measuring distances no longer agree like the CMBR, Parallax method, type 1a supernova, Cepheid variables and the iron metal content of stars.
Notice I said unconfirmed redshift? Because if they didn’t change the redshift distance ladder all the old massive galaxies they discovered would refute the hot dense big bang, cosmic inflation, age of the universe, distance to the proposed CMBR, dark ages, reionization event, speed of light in a vacuum, general relativity’s look-back time, 1st law of thermodynamics, Hubble constant of 70.4 km/s/Mpc, and the Lambda CDM model used to describe how long it takes for stars and galaxies to evolve. Without revising the redshift distance ladder it would basically upend all of cosmology and prove Einstein was wrong about many things. Nobody in their right mind would disagree with Einstein, else they’d lose all federal funding for research. That’s how tight the peer review process is today. Even when observation refute Einstein’s ideals the data is manipulated to make him appear correct.
You’d think with the JWST, HST, Vera Rubin telescope, ALMA telescopes they’d be quick to confirm newly found extreme redshifts, but they procrastinate. They have all the tools they need to confirm or refute the claims by Einstein from his constant speed of light to look-back time but they all choose not to. That’s not how science progresses. They’ve even discovered galaxies with redshifts higher than z=25, much further than MoM -z14.

Any galaxy which is *the* oldest galaxy just now will soon be the second oldest when we find more of those old galaxies.
It might be the oldest, but it was very young what we are seeing in the pictures,who knows if it is still a galaxy at this point in time
