The thing with Sinner and Alcaraz is that there is basically no holes in their game except for a few niche volley scenarios in Sinners case and a few lapses of concentration and focus for Carlos. As much as people praise Nadal and Fed for example, they had obvious weaknesses. I don’t see anybody catching up to the top two if they don’t have potential for ridiculous firepower like Fonseca or a great serve plus fundamentals like Mensik. You have to be able to beat them from the baseline somehow.
The holes in Alcaraz game is that he isn’t as consistent as Sinner. Sinner’s game has very few lows and the lows aren’t that low. Alcaraz has more highs and lows (his lows aren’t much lower than Sinner but his highs are also much higher).
@ClarkJohnson-oq9ueAlcaraz basically buried the consistency argumemt last year and took back the number one spot. Also the much higher highs is exaggerated, Sinner can also play lights out tennis, he just doesn’t have the explosive power for forehand cannons and hand skills for baseline volleys like Carlos. He still wins some crazy points as well.

@ClarkJohnson-oq9ue It’s true he gained over 2k ranking points while Sinner was away but how many points Sinner would have won is hypothetical and he had basically an extra off season to recover and prepare while the rest like Carlos were on tour playing. You can argue both ways. Still, Carlos became more consistent. Both are playing this season, will be cool to watch 😊
@Keepcalm-lovesportslows does not necessarily mean actually losing. He had tough 3 to 5 set matches against players outside the top 10 like van de Zanfdschulp, Hurkacz, Nardi, Cerundolo, Fils, Khachanov, Dzumhur (2x), Marozsan, Struff, and Fognini. He also ended up losing to Lehecka, Goffin, Norri,e and Draper (not top 10 at the time).
Sinner on the other hand had tough 3 to 5 set matches with players outside the top 10 against FAA, Shapovalov, Atmane lost to Bublik, Schoolkate, and Griekspoor (walkover).
Clearly Sinner is more even in his matches.
Only Bublik can defeat sinner or Alcaraz. If only Bublik play more seriously and God mode.

Bublik has to mode one is chill show bass bublik and another one serious bublik who can destroy anyone.
This year the path for Carlitos at the AO is a walk in the park until the final.
