The adventures of old bill and his friends Bert and Alf in the trenches of the First World War! Adapted from the 1917 stage musical 🎵 of the same name by by Bruce bairnsfather which,in turn was based on his 1915 comic strip! So syd Chaplin was Charlie’s brother?? I didn’t know that-but if his character was as good as Charlie’s tramp -he is majestic in this flick-lots of laughs in this silent comedy and this is great stuff! 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

I wonder what these actors and actresses would: #1. Think about people getting great laughs 98 years after their film was created, #2. What they’d think about today’s cinemas and cinematography….

Thank you for uploading this fine old comedy classic about British Army Captain Bruce Bairnsfather’s “Old Bill and Alfie.”

Thanks! Nice quality, I also like your introductions! I found this after reading about DeWolf Hopper, who played in this on stage. He’s most famous for reciting Casey at the Bat which he did many thousands of times on stage and in one of the first sound films in 1922!

I am a huge fan of silent films, I’ve seen hundreds of them, but this goes down as one of my top ten worst silent films. It’s 95 minutes of boredom.
