A poor Neapolitan girl, desperate to acquire medication for her ailing mother, comes into conflict with the police and finds refuge with a traveling circus. She meets a painter, who falls in love with her but is unaware of her recent troubles with the law.

    Are there any Janet Gaynor’s in the metro-Detroit area‽ Man alive! What a film! That lady went through it ALL! That had more beauty and tragedy than most films today that are considered beautiful or tragic. That was like Russian literature put to celluloid. What a feature! Gaynor DESERVED that triple or one-third (however you measure it) ORIGINAL Oscar award for her STELLAR performance! That was a GREAT film! I wish I had a hunny to share that experience with, because that is the only thing the film lacked, which was not the fault of the film. That sure was something.

    ~ I have enjoyed this Movie over the years and I just watched it again ~ It was a very good Silent Movie and It was ashame that it was never remade into a Talkie with the same Movie Stars ~
