WGN Channel 9 – The Morning Movie – “Francis in the Haunted House” (Complete Broadcast, 10/29/82) 📺🐎

Here’s the complete broadcast of “Francis in the Haunted House” [1956] as shown on The Morning Movie over WGN Channel 9.

This, the last in the popular Francis the Talking Mule series, saw Mickey Rooney replace Donald O’Connor as Francis’ sidekick (though you wouldn’t know it from the incorrectly credited return bumper voiceovers), and Paul Frees replacing Chill Wills as the voice of the mule. Also starring Virginia Welles – and David Janssen (years before becoming a fugitive).

Oh, and the plot: Francis witnesses a murder, and takes a bumbling reporter (Rooney) under his wing to help solve the crime and catch the perpetrator(s).

  1. I’m pretty sure that’s WNUA’s Bill Cochran doing the voiceover at the beginning and end of the CSO spot at 16:23.

  2. Love Francis I have all the movies including this one. Love the one with Francis in the navy and odonalds twin

  3. Ralph Bell is the voice of the Sizzler commercial (1:15:02).

47:20 Bill Tracy portrays Dave Lennox
1:29:26 Patrick Collins is the dad in the California Prunes commercial

    1. He got fed up with the franchise when he told film historian and critic Leonard Maltin that the mule got more fan mail than he did.
