Penix is a good pick, the Cousins signing was moronic. Let me remind Falcons fans of something, Cousins was playing behind a top 3 Oline, had best WR in football, he also had Addison and Hock, a better defense, and a better head coach and one of the leagues best offensive players callers. He’s 1-2 in the playoffs, on a stacked team. You over payed, you tampered, and that is gonna cost you. Don’t think you won’t lose a pick next year, and it’s not gonna be a 4th or a 5th, word is, it’s a 1.
If you were gonna take Penix, what’s the smart move? Penix is arguably the most nfl ready of the QB’s, he’s also turning 25. Well you want him to start. If you want him to sit, it’s no more than year. You could traded a 4th round pick, for Justin Fields, on the final year of his rookie contract, so super cheap. Gone out and signed some defensive free agents, and had Penix at 8, and Fields as either his backup, or a starter for a year while he learns the offense, and it costs you next to nothing. Fields, who kicked your teams ass. If Fields plays well, and gets signed away the following year, you get a comp pick, a third round comp pick, that is how dumb your organization is. You got no defense, your WR’s are eh. 180 million, 100 million locked in, and you lose a draft pick, oh yeah this screams well run organization. Did you see what Cousins did without Jefferson this year? It wasn’t good. Have fun.
You guys don’t even know what you’re talking about you obviously don’t know Kirk cousins he doesn’t care about winning. He doesn’t care about playing. He cares about the money and if you can’t see that, then just quit your jobs.
While I agree wholeheartedly with your sentiment, I do believe he cares about his reputation and his legacy. Especially now nearing the end of his career. The Vikings went out of their way like many teams do not create controversy in the quarterback room and to give him a backup that doesn’t compete but instead supports him like an extra coach. The falcons coaches even said it’s not Kirk’s job to teach Penix so it’s not like Kirk is going to go out of the way to help Michael ascend.
I mean I realize how Cousins was raised and how being a delusional nut job helps one be a good player and loved by coaches, but he’s really out of it to not realize his age, the contract, and the injury success rate.

I dont think the falcons think at all. They seem to waddle through life unconcerned about anything except keeping their jobs.

Penix has a cannon for an arm . We really know little else but this will certainly divide lockeroom. Cousins will have to play mvp level ( sort of like last year when jj went down on top ) football otherwise humans will human.

Rough division but kirk to adams and jacobi with improving defense- surprise of the afc.

Cousins clear on signing another extension in 2 years …….I guess not . This is rotten. It’s the nfl and a business but it’s not ” survivor ” where the back stabbing is the vortex of the show .
Kirk has always been all about maximizing the size of his bag of money. It is business. Now the business side of things is biting him in the A$$. Enjoy your money Kirk.

Listen the falcons knew when to walk away from Matt and Julio. Have they made bad decisions in the past ,yes but who hasn’t? Or what team hasn’t? Florio is still mad viking wouldn’t put the money out for kirk , let it go man !
Draft pick wasn’t a problem, paying Kirk was.
That pick could have easily turned into two later 1sts.
They apparently did not like any of the offers they could have gotten for the pick.
Falcons love Kirk and penixx what’s so hard to understand
If you draft someone in the top 15 they’re expected to play relatively soon. And the whole point of drafting a qb is to build around them while they are on their rookie contract.
Kirk made his decision to choose money over winning and working with the franchise that gave him soooo much. I feel no sympathy for Kirk and I don’t think he will feel bad for himself for very long. I’ve never been a huge Kirk guy as a Vikings fan, but you can’t argue that the guy is a professional and will go to work everyday to give his best. His priority is money over wins, which I respect since he’s always been transparent about that.
Not sure that makes sense. He had a better chance to win in Atlanta–and get more money.

What everyone is not saying is… what if they don’t pan out. lol I think they did a great job at worst they have a 3year plan with. Two years left on the the rookie deal. And if he believes himself then he should. What’s crazy is all these teams that wanted him oven LAMAR IS CRAZY
Is this gotcha journalism? After Ryan the falcons saw years of bad not mediocre but borderline terrible qb play. So they sign a guy who is 36 and isn’t a long term option but is solid 12 to 16th best qb in the league. Drafted a player they viewed as the 3rd beat qb prospect in the draft. Does it help them this year no and if cousin’s wants to cry about that how about he stops being a mercenary in the nfl and shows the loyalty to an organization that he wants. Penix will get a chance 2 years from now and hopefully kirk can help the young guys develope.
This is just further proof of what I’ve been saying for a while now, KC is under appreciated for his level of play on the field. Off the field, he’s a smug, smarmy, self centered jerk despite what he wants he public to believe. That’s who KC is. No NFL GM is that oblivious to draft a QB with #8 overall pick, and not know exactly the message it sends to KC. That was the point, that’s how much KC has gone out of his way to show his ***
Cousins was not going to work on Tuesdays, irregardless of what the Falcons did in the draft.
If you really think that he was going to change the way he did things for the Falcons, you are deluding yourself.
