‘Abbott Elementary’: A funny show about serious issues

ABC’s newest sitcom “Abbott Elementary” has quadrupled its rating since its debut. But CNN reporter Lisa Respers France says the show’s creator Quinta Brunson is bringing more than laughs — she’s teaching us something. “Abbott Elementary” is about a group of dedicated teachers in Philadelphia who are dealing with a lot of the same issues real teachers face across America. Brunson is well known for her previous role on “A Black Lady Sketch Show” and the self-produced Instagram series “Girl Who Has Never Been on a Nice Date.” Brunson’s new show also stars Tyler James Williams and Sheryl Lee Ralph.

Watch “Pop Off” with Lisa Respers France for a sassy, no-nonsense take on entertainment and real life’s biggest issues on CNN’s YouTube channel.
