Peanut the Squirrel’s owner, Mark Longo, shares a tearful message on Instagram, after his pet squirrel and raccoon were euthanized by authorities. The internet-famous wildlife animals were confiscated by Department of Environmental Conservation officials, who showed up to Longo’s New York home with a search warrant last week. The DEC said Peanut bit one of the investigators, forcing them to euthanize the squirrel and raccoon so they could be tested for rabies.
What a sick broken humanity we have become
Turning humans into robotic executers
Any creature would attempt to defend itself if handled roughly by strangers. Unlike humans who have been cowed into submission.
this is horrible, but how many of you fund slaughterhouses and pay people to stab animals in the throat even though we don’t need to eat animals to be healthy? And you expect to be taken seriously when you say you are “against animal cruelty? Are you kidding?
They’re eating the dogs they’re eating the cats. They’re killing the squirrels they’re killing the raccoons.
Peanut was awesome. I really enjoyed the video’s watching peanut climb all over stuff. Look, what is the risk of rabies? If his owner does not have rabies, why would anyone he bit have rabies? Come on… common sense here. Sounds a bit like over reach to me. When enforcing legislation its important to look at the whole of the circumstances not just chapter and verse within the legislation. Geez! My condolences, Peanut spread a bit of joy in many people’s lives.
