The Sox should invest moderately (not all in). Getting this current group of guys a taste of the playoffs and that experience can pay dividends down the line.

They need a starting pitcher… trade for one, or I would even consider Bauer at league minimum. He does not need to be the ace. It is a half season, and you know he is going to be on his best behavior. While he is no angel it is also apparent that at least a couple of the women involved saw him as a payday. I am big on second chances when there is reason to believe that the person is learning from their past mistakes.

Secondly get a right hand bat. How about Justin Turner? Should not cost too much. Veteran presence in the club house, loves Boston and Boston loves him. I think he could be primed for a productive second half.

Making moves like this could not hurt with Alex Cora either.
