Doubt that Russia and Iran are abandoning Syria. Some vitally important context that many gung-ho Americans are missing: Bashar al-Assad declined a proposal from Qatar all the way back in 2000 to build a $10 billion Qatar–Turkey pipeline that would run through Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Syria, and Turkey to provide energy to Europe. This allegedly prompted covert CIA operations to spark a Syrian civil war to pressure Bashar al-Assad to resign and allow a pro-American president to step in and sign off on the deal. Leaked documents have shown that in 2009, the CIA began funding and supporting opposition groups in Syria to foment a civil war two years before the civil war broke out. This would imply that without American meddling Syria would never have crumbled into civil war. Furthermore if you look at Syria’s GDP it had peaked JUST before the war at the highest it had ever been. Heaven forbid we let a country that doesn’t agree with us prosper. Maybe, just maybe, Assad’s assertion about Syria being picked apart in a way that is beneficial to us and the ‘West ‘ isn’t so far fetched.
TL; DR: Bashar wasn’t public enemy #1 until he didn’t do what we wanted. Since we’re a bunch of pricks, we decided to help kick off this civil war, a war that probably wouldn’t have otherwise happened as Syria was starting to prosper, a war that has killed 600k people and counting, a war we are helping to perpetuate. It’s okay though, all those dead people are brown and Muslim. God bless America.
Have to wonder how much influence Israeli advisors who work in the U.S. for think tanks that our politicians reference had on making sure we are focused on Israel’s enemies, regardless of the expense to us.
American A-10’s flying in close support of people who are essentially ISIS just goes to show dirty the game of geopolitics is and how invested America is in it.
Because Obama, Bush, Clinton, etc wanted it to.
There. Saved you four minutes.
These people know exactly why the so-called civil war is heating up at this moment. They’re absolutely prolific liars. NATO is propping up Islamist fighters like ISIS and Al Nusra and re-branding them into freedom fighters. Theyre doing this now because it hurts Russia. When they destroy what’s left of Syria’s future they will act surprised that hundreds of thousands of Syrian Christians are fleeing. Disgusting. Evil.
