Have you ever been shamed by the label “too intense”? In this talk Spirit Paris McIntyre employs music, definitions of language and their life experiences to decode this label and teaches how we can be embracing the incredible gift of intensity.
Spirit McIntyre (spirit/they) is an anti-disciplinarian at the intersections of: Arts Director, Sound Composer, Cellist, Singer, Writer, Reiki Practitioner, Compassionate Facilitator, Visual Arts and Community Builder who promotes empowerment by any medium necessary. They believe in: the importance of breath, the power of deep listening, holding space for complex emotions, healing intergenerational trauma, honoring lovability, and growing compassionately through tight places to find authentic connection. Spirit incorporates these beliefs in their work which focuses on: Black folks, Transgender and Non-Binary+ identities, Health & Wellness, Self-Expression, Ancestral Worship, and Grief Practices. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
I think that we do need some intense people in a world of zombies who don’t have any vital energy in them lol.
The amount of living dead people I know is crazy. No one expresses themselves anymore.
Nah. Alot of the people being told are too “intense” have no respect for other people’s boundaries. In a party or anywhere if someone is telling you that maybe they just didn’t wanna tell you that you don’t respect anyone’s space and are spoiling the atmosphere. Maybe not everyone has things like stutus quo in their mind. Maybe nobody wants to suppress whatever the heck is inside you.
Thanks! I needed this today. I will work towards building meaningful change and find all of my intensity focus. ❤
Yes!!!
So true
