Jean-Claude Romand, born in 1954, led a life filled with deception and manipulation. He falsely claimed to work as a doctor for the World Health Organization (WHO) while his wife, Florence, and their two children, Caroline and Antoine, believed him. Florence, initially unaware of his lies, became increasingly suspicious of his secrecy, particularly after discovering inconsistencies in his work life. In January 1993, Jean-Claude brutally murdered his wife, children, and parents, before staging a fire to cover up his crimes.
It was later revealed that Jean-Claude was never a doctor or employed by WHO; he had deceived many, including his mistress, whom he conned out of nearly a million francs. Struggling with financial ruin and the fear of exposure, Jean-Claude believed killing his family would protect them from the fallout. After a lengthy investigation, it was uncovered that Jean-Claude had fabricated his entire career, even pretending to be a cancer patient to avoid detection.
