Movie was blah … it was ok but slightly bizarre. Not sure if it was good or had. Just mehh…. kinda really went no where. The dating game part was just really not even relevant to it
My understanding from watching the film was that it wasn’t meant to be a purely factual depiction or a documentary. What I gathered was that the film was more about showing how misogyny and other legal breakdowns in society led to a sexual offender and murderer to not be properly vetted for his appearance on a dating gameshow. I.E. Using real events as a backdrop to explore other aspects of how Rodney Alcala was able to keep attacking women despite arrests, etc., and to tell more about how it affected the women involved vs all about Alcala himself.
This is a rare case where the real life guy looks like more of a model than the movie version. You can see why the women went with him. Also, it’s weird how much the movie focused on the humor and character arc of Anna Kendrick’s character when she didn’t end up doing much other than surviving and running away.
