The internet is divided over Meryl Streep’s shocked reaction to a jockstrap joke at the 2024 Emmys.
The actress, 75, appeared floored Sunday when Rob McElhenney and his wife, Kaitlin Olson, presented the award for outstanding supporting actress in a comedy series — for which she received a nomination for her role in “Only Murders in the Building” — at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles.
“Ladies and gentlemen, we are here to honor the comedic performances that hold everything in place. They show crucial support when it’s really needed,” McElhenney, 47, told the star-studded crowd.

Virtually everybody loves Meryl and Meryl loves virtually everybody. She loves to joke around.
This is a bad joke. It brought tears to my eyes. She is a timeless national treasure. She dignifies Hollywood. I can’t believe this industry is so low. To think about she was one of the first in the industry to step out, openly criticize Trump in her speech risking everything and how much she contributed to defend journalists and lgbtq rights. And how she has been a trailblazer for women in Hollywood and everywhere. She is not a piece of trash like those who write the joke.

She was in on it for sure. Boss lady that she is it would be production suicide if not. Speaking of writing, this was just juvenile. Not funny nor entertaining.
This is so un-funny, and typical Hollywood: they are so self congratulatory and over react to every word that’s uttered. Trust me, America is not impressed. I know that’s a shock to those in Hollywood. Embarrassing.
The plain and simple fact is, it wasn’t funny. Ms Streep has both humour and class.
What drug is she on?
The vulgarity of Hollywood on open display. Do they not have any writers who have a better vocabulary and/or imagination than that?

Meryl Streep has a great sense of humor. She wasn’t shocked at all. I saw her fall off of her chair on stage at Lincoln Center. She laughed harder than anybody else in the house.

Boy this is why the I am Great awards are so ugh.
She is one of the best and most famous actresses. So I hope these two ihave enough money for the flower bouquet they need to apologise. Respect is something you have or you have not.
