50% 3 pt attempts makes statistically sense. As long as you shoot any of these shots statistically more often than the other, the defending team will have higher defense success since it can pick a strategy to defend more against 3’s or against 2’s. For defending against both types of shots simultaneously you’d probably need a team of six Wemby’s.
As soon as the attacking team plays 50:50 2’s and 3’s, it turns to pure luck for the defending team to draw their defense in and be vulnerable against 3’s, or to spread out and be more vulnerable against 2’s.
Get rid of the 3 point line. Theres your answer
Make the 3 point line further away and the value of threes decrease for just about everybody but steph.
