Warning: this episode contains descriptions of war and trauma.
One year ago, Israel suffered the worst terrorist attack in its history. The conflict that followed has become bigger and deadlier by the day, killing tens of thousands of people and expanding from Gaza to Yemen, Lebanon and now Iran.
Today, we return to two men in Israel and Gaza, to hear how their lives have changed.
Guests: Golan Abitbul, a resident of Kibbutz Be’eri, in southern Israel; and Hussein Owda, who was among more than a million people sheltering in Rafah.

They’re both just alike.
Nothing more destructive and violent than SIBLING rivalry.
This is why this is an ongoing problem. Israel being the bully brother.
I’m so exasperated by the piling on Israel. Why is it so hard to comprehend that the militant Islamists want the 9,000,000 people who live in Israel dead? What is Israel supposed to do with a guerilla army hiding among civilians and willing to have 40,000 of its own people die rather than give up the hostages and turn in their guns? Yes, Netanyahu is self-serving, but he is not the real problem. Just who do you want him to make peace with? Name one Palestinian in a position to do so who is willing to do so.
How exactly did Hussein Owda get his kids out of Gaza to Egypt? How does he continue to earn a good salary while his fellow countrymen live in tents? Well, the answer would expose who this man truly is: a public relations director for the Hamas run Municipality of Gaza. Thus, he is a Hamas operative whose job is to spin Hamas propaganda. Interesting choice.
