The Oscars are moving to YouTube. In a Dec. 17 press release, the Academy announced that the Academy Awards will begin streaming live on YouTube in 2029 after the ceremony has aired exclusively on ABC since 1976. The ABC partnership will officially conclude after the 100th Academy Awards in 2028. Academy CEO Bill Kramer and Academy President Lynette Howell Taylor wrote, “This partnership will allow us to expand access to the work of the Academy to the largest worldwide audience possible — which will be beneficial for our Academy members and the film community.” YouTube CEO Neal Mohan echoed that sentiment, writing, “Partnering with the Academy to bring this celebration of art and entertainment to viewers all over the world will inspire a new generation of creativity and film lovers while staying true to the Oscars’ storied legacy.” Full Story: https://www.eonline.com/news/1426319/oscars-move-to-youtube
