Mbale was on tenter hooks as Armed gangs with pangas, metal bars, huge sticks and harmers were today hunting down the New contractor Nalu Tour and Travel LTD.
Preliminary information shows that the Street Parking Collection contract was handed over to Nalu Tour and Travel LTD to collect the parking fees on behalf of Mbale City Council after the contract of Central Investment Agency Limited expired a company allegedly owned by NRM District Chairman Mbale and Industrial City Division Mayor Muhamoud Masaba.
Today was the commencement of the works of Nalu Tour and Travel LTD, However the Company has faced resistance from a gang said to be sponsored by Mr. Muhamoud Masaba.
It’s alleged that Muhamoud Masaba the Executive Director of Central Investment Agency Limited sponsored the gang to sabotage the operation of Nalu Tour and Travel LTD due to his de-satisfaction of loosing the tender to the new revenue collector.
Luzze Robert Kamya the Executive Director of Nalu Tour and Travel LTD revealed to this News agency that they were chased by an armed gang with pangas and huge sticks by a black Fielder vehicle no.UBK 587N only to survive by driving faster that the mentioned vehicle.
Makiika Abdallahtif also an employee of Nalu Tour and Travel LTD revealed that they have already made a statement regarding the matter and that police has taken over investigations.
Today Police was heavily deployed a long the streets of Mbale and at Mbale City Council Headquarters as there was great anticipation of a demonstration with violence by the old tenderer.
Luzze Robert Kamya the Executive Director Nalu noted that his predecessor had a debit of 246 million shillings he had defaulted Mbale City Council.
He however noted that he will be collecting revenue and handling over to Mbale City Council and it’s Mbale City Council that will give him a percentage for the work done. He also pledged to retain the staff who have been collecting the revenue but only desolve the executive.
He attributed the raw between him and his predecessor to tribalism something he strongly condemned.
‘You don’t move with pangas, With a car and sticks wanting to beat people, like yesterday they chased us with a vehicle UBK 587N black of loading and offloading.’ He noted.
‘ This thing should not be in Mbale. Some from Mbale should be able to work in Kampala, Arua and those from Busoga should work in Mbale that’s why we said no tribalism but here the Chairman of NRM is showing tribalism. And why should we have tribalism in Business? ‘ He added.
However despite the challenges, Luzze and his team vowed to carryon with the works.
‘So in short I want to assure the People of Mbale that were are going to work but we are waiting for decision from Council then we shall take on.’ He assured.
