Academy Award-nominated actress Teri Garr has passed away at 79. The beloved actress, known for her roles in “Tootsie” and “Young Frankenstein,” died Oct. 29 from multiple sclerosis complications, her publicist and friend Heidi Schaeffer told NBC News. She had been living with MS for over 25 years after becoming officially diagnosed with the condition in 1999 – despite symptoms appearing over 15 years prior. The “Mr. Mom” star went public with her diagnosis on national TV in 2002, and later become a significant advocate for the autoimmune disease. Access Hollywood is looking back at her iconic legacy and life.
For me as a lifelong Trekkie, Teri’s breakout role was as Roberta Lincoln in Star Trek’s “Assignment: Earth” in the late 1960s.
