Surviving MACA: Life Inside Côte d’Ivoire’s Toughest Prison | Free Documentary
Overcrowded and Forgotten – Surviving Zambia’s Horror Prison: https://youtu.be/MhI5k2lwvlw
Relegated to the outskirts between the working-class district of Yopougon and the Banco rainforest, the Abidjan Prison and Correctional Facility (MACA) lies hidden from view, in the shadows of the Ivorian capital. Built following a European model in the 1970s, this penitentiary institution, the largest in Côte d’Ivoire, houses up to 5,000 inmates, despite an original capacity of 1,500. Yet, daily life is organized, and a certain stability prevails within MACA. Through portraits of guards and inmates from different prison departments, this documentary offers the first deep dive into the heart of a system of conflicting solidarities.

Cool ❤
It’s a hard life there, that’s for sure. I’m only half way through but as of yet I don’t see when anyone gets out or gets a sentence. When they get in trouble are they just there for as long as they want them too, and does that turn into mostly a life sentence?
@@tigerqueen9475 they do say in a few places offhand… like they mentioned block A was light offenders with sentences less than 5 years, & I think someone was mentioned to be in for 3years, or that in block C many are life-prisoners… for the lighter crimes, I think though, most do not complete a full sentence, as being let out for good behavior is an important educational/control tool.
Innocent children and babies do not belong in a prison!
Especially when you hear at 53:55 that child exploitation takes place!
49:53 – Funny to see that they wear the dutch national soccer team clothing
Intéressant. C’Est absurde l’absence d’humanisme que les autorités ont même pour des personnes qui ont faussé dans leur vie.
