Jason Kelce Regrets Altercation with Fan Over Homophobic Slur Aimed at Travis Kelce
Jason Kelce has spoken out about the heated confrontation he had with a college football fan outside Beaver Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 2. The incident occurred when the retired Philadelphia Eagles star, 36, was attending the Ohio State-Penn State game and heard a fan direct a homophobic slur at his brother, Travis Kelce.
In a candid statement on Monday Night Countdown, Jason admitted he wasn’t proud of his reaction. “I’m not happy with anything that took place. I’m not proud of it,” he said. Kelce elaborated, explaining, “Within a heated moment, I chose to greet hate with hate, and I don’t think that’s a productive thing. I don’t think it leads to discourse.”
Describing his mindset at the time, Jason expressed regret. “In that moment, I fell down to a level that I shouldn’t have. Bottom line is, I try to live my life by the golden rules… I’m going to keep doing that moving forward,” he added. Kelce concluded by refocusing on football: “We got a game to focus on. A matchup. I don’t think this is the platform to necessarily go into more detail.”
Incident Details
The tense moment was captured in footage circulating on X (formerly Twitter). Jason was making his way to the stadium, flanked by hecklers. One of them, clad in a Penn State hoodie, shouted a homophobic slur targeting Travis, referring to his high-profile relationship with Taylor Swift. Jason’s immediate reaction was to grab the heckler’s phone and smash it to the ground. He later retrieved the phone, reportedly making another heated remark to the individual before walking away.
The confrontation drew mixed reactions on social media, with some defending Jason for standing up for his brother, while others questioned his response.
Jason was in State College as part of ESPN’s College GameDay coverage, where Ohio State secured a 20-13 victory over Penn State.

The dude is the one that needs to apologize not you Jason.
Jason losing weight? Botox?
Jason, you are forgiven. That kid disrespected you in public. To call your brother a name like that? He’s a twerp and I bet he has quite a few less “likes” than he thought.
