Thanks for the update. I actually started with Ring products about the same time as you. Was it 2017??? Currently, I have the Ring Pro 2 doorbell that I replaced the original Ring wired doorbell about 3-4 years ago? I was giving thought to buying this new 4k doorbell because my currant Pro 2 sometimes gives me a blurry live view. Like you, I also have the Ring Floodlight and the battery power spotlight. I have been watching your Ring camera videos since you and I purchased about the same time. Thanks to you, I got a free Ring floodlight after you posted the lens fell off your floodlight and I checked my floodlight and sure enough, the lens was missing. I can’t remember if the lens was below the camera, or not? The wind may have blown it away. I don’t know if Amazon is as good as the previous Ring owner and inventor, but not only did I get the free floodlight, but I got a free replacement spotlight not long after.
I know you post many other brands, but I have stuck with Ring and mainly watch your Ring posts. My Ring cameras have caught jerks walking up my driveway and checking my wife’s car with flashlight, but I do have the Ring warning, plus the floodlight that has scared them off. Two nights ago at 3:10am both my Ring doorbell and floodlight caught three Coyotes running after a rabbit. Don’t know if the bunny got away 😕
Sorry for being so wordy, but again, I have been watching your Ring posts since both you and I purchased them, which I think was year 2017???
Have a good day.
Don from Milwaukee Wisconsin.
Hello Don, I remember you. Yes, we started with Ring about the same time in 2017. These 4K lineup from Ring especially if you are in their ecosystem is a major welcome update. The Ring app is still I think the most user friendly security camera app out there. I will be checking out their 4K floodlight cam soon.
@LifeHackster, I seem to recall, you live in Houston, Texas, which is a bit warmer than Milwaukee Wisconsin. I may wait until next Spring when weather warms up to be outside to install doorbell. This morning, it was only 27 degrees and a couple of days ago, we got an inch of snow. I saw on the news Racine, Wisconsin and Chicago, Illinois got hit bad with snow storms and six or more inches of snow and glad it missed Milwaukee.
I have the 3D motion on my Ring Pro doorbell, which I even believe you mentioned at one time, can take it or leave it. My Ring floodlight does not have that option and I was thinking about updating that as well. It’s the same floodlight that I got a free replacement after watching your post about the missing lens cover.
Keep up the good posts on the security cameras. I still like Ring products and don’t frett about the yearly membership, although I do not know if Amazon Customer Service is as good as the original Ring ownership to give free replacement, or huge discounts on replacements.
Thanks for the reply.

So my main reason for wanting to upgrade was to be able to see my packages on the ground because my old Ring camera FOV isn’t enough. I am thinking this should be able to?
This chime was junk out of the box. It rings on the phone but not on the wall. The chime is a really bad product. After 2 hours with tech support they let me know its defective and can’t send out a new one as they are out of stock, I wonder why.
I bought 2 of these Ring doorbell 3rd gen 4k. One for the front and the another for the back. I compared this to my Google doorbell 3rd gen , and this is way better day and night. I’m keeping them installed and I cancelled my Google yearly subscription. Thanks for the detailed review.
What would you recommend the Ring wired doorbell Pro 4k reviewed in this video or the Reolink POE doorbell that you’ve been using yourself. I’ve had the original ring doorbell pro for many years and served us well but now it’s time for an upgrade. I’m leaning towards installing a Reolink POE camera system with nvr in the spring and because of that I’m not sure which way to go with the doorbell cam. I don’t have Ethernet at the doorbell yet but I’m planning on installing one soon. I appreciate your input.
Thanks so much for your video! I subscribed to your channel. I very much liked the way you explained the unboxing, how to set it up and everything it does. That is perfect for someone like me to have a step-by-step. I wanted to buy this particular Ring but I was not happy with the reviews on Amazon so I was going to buy the old Ring. Thinking now I will be getting this one in my new house, thanks to you! I also want information on door sensors, cameras and other items as well for Ring. Did you make videos on those AND more importantly are they compatible with this Ring? Thanks!
Do not buy these ring doorbells.
Subscription model. I only kept mine because it was a gift.
And the hooks to hang it on your door are so unbelievably flimsy, the neighborhood kids ripped it off the door along with the hooks to hold it on in no short order.
Literally, they are a joke. They used plenty of plastic everywhere, except in the one place where it mattered most.. to hold the thing on your door. Total joke.
I had to fasten mine back to my door with a hose clamp, AND make a sign for that said “Door Bell – Press to Ring”. Literally, the stvpldest doorbell ever.
I have the 2nd gen Arlo front doorbell and it takes over 5sec to stream when activating from my Alexa Show 15. I noticed the lag to stream for the Ring doorbell Pro in your review seems very quick maybe 1-2 seconds. Do you see low latency consistently when trying to view from your Alexa Show, Lifehackster?
Yes, with Ring cameras not a lot of delay.
I remember seeing ring selling the POE version of this. How come it’s no longer for sale?
Love your videos man, you’re doing an awesome job! Quick question about the newest Ring model: with the premium plan (the highest subscription), can you rewind live footage by about 10 seconds? I mean truly rewind from the live moment — like if it’s 4:00:15 PM live, can you view 4:00:05 PM and is that already stored in the cloud? Google Home Premium can’t show the last 30 seconds because it isn’t uploaded yet. Curious if Ring can!
The required subscription is definitely a no go. What’s the best one without one?
I’m trying to set it up and it more difficult to setup
I’m just having trouble finding the door bell transformer
Home Depot
That is NOT 4K , that is 8MP SQUARE There is a difference. STOP regurgitating the marketing bullshat these companies spew. 4K refers to a high-resolution video standard with roughly 4,000 pixels horizontally, most commonly seen as 3840 x 2160 (4K UHD for TVs), an alternative term for 4K is 2160p.
Also, the ring pro gen 3 is a much more mediocre kit, I wouldn’t call it a pro at all, just a hardwired. More enshitification of products/services..
This is embarrassing. About to be 2026 and we still get laggy/choppy video quality from all home “security cameras”.. We all should stop buying Eufy/Ring/Nest until they up their game in a major way.
Hi. Any idea when you will
Do a POE review? Many thanks
Would you recommend the Pro 2, Pro 3 4K, or new Plus 2K
You spoke of the USBC port for “power over the internet” then just ignored it during your installation… why no mention, why no use of it ??
What to do if your house does not have a doorbell
Get the battery powered model
The way I’m reading the manual you only have to bypass your doorbell if you’re using a 24VAC transformer. This is from the manual: “If you use a 24 VAC doorbell transformer, you’ll also need to bypass your existing doorbell using the Pro Power Kit V2, as most doorbells aren’t rated for use with a 24 VAC transformer.” So if you have a 16VAC transformer (and it powers just fine on 16AC/30VA) you should be able to use existing doorbell?
