Ridley Scott says today’s movies are so lousy that he just re-watches his own instead. While speaking at BFI Southbank in the U.K., the legendary director of ‘Alien,’ ‘Gladiator’ and ‘Blade Runner’ said, in part, “We’re drowning in mediocrity. The quantity of movies that are made today, literally globally, millions. There’s not thousands, there’s millions, and most of it is s***.”

Gladiator 2 was average
It was awful
I absolutely disagree. His last couple movies were not the greatest (Alien Covenant and Gladiator 2). I’ve seen way better movies over the past 5 years than that.
He’s enjoying his life, nothing bad about it. Everyone would do the same. 😅😊😂
He made some amazing films but also some dreadful ones. He’s infamous for his ego.
He’s absolutely right, movie making is becoming a lost art and the master movie makers and the technical crew’s are getting old. We need a shift so the old masters can guide the new talents.

Whats wrong with movies made today? Every decade, people have said that movies are crap now and where better before. Okey. We have some crappy “blockbusters” but just look at A24. Many great films from that company alone.
I absolutely agree. Movies today are beyond garbage. I haven’t seen a great movies in over a decade. Trash sequels and remakes. This generation of actors are TERRIBLE along with writers and directors. I have always loved movies but not anymore. Like Mr. Scott I just go back and watch the classics. Hollywood is DEAD. I’m glad I grew up in the golden age of movies. This generation has no idea what a great movie is about.
