Why does aging dramatically increase the risk of Alzheimer’s Disease, and yet, not everyone is equally affected? We seek to understand the age-related biological changes that distinguish between those who maintain cognitive resilience and those who succumb to decline, paving the way for groundbreaking preventative measures and cures for Alzheimer’s Disease. We are seeking answers that could transform the future of aging and cognitive health. @cglavisbloom, https://www.linkedin.com/in/courtney-glavis-bloom-265b431/, https://www.facebook.com/cglavisbloom/, @courtneygb

Dr. Courtney Glavis-Bloom, a neuroscientist at the Salk Institute, conducts groundbreaking research on the neurobiological changes that occur with aging, and their link to cognitive decline and resilience. She leverages nearly two decades of experience from roles spanning both industry and academia to uncover novel approaches for intervention by utilizing non-human primate models. Her educational foundation includes a BA in Cognitive Science from Yale and a PhD in Neuroscience and Animal Behavior from Emory. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
Alzheimer’s – thru lens of aging, (about cog declines)- cog resilience vs cog decline- trans info by communication occured in synapse(energy required which produce by mitochondria).
Mismatching size of mitochondria and synapses = diff in energy demand & supply = disrupt communication between neurons: cog declines

Look my dad had a dr. who had just had a look say ” you have the veins of a 17-year-old. He was 75 and still logging in the woods. His diet was great and he got lots of sleep. And in 1 month of this dr. making this statement he was told by a top neurologist he had this horrifying disease and over the next 2 years he was often taken advantage of by phone scammers and lowly people in town for over 100 thousand dollars as well as his fast decline and then his death. I am so sick of hearing we are making headway in this disease. He was and did all the things they tell us to do and still he went down. So now im in my late 50s and just waiting for it to come for me and my sister in her 60s now. How long until we have something that helps? Will it be to late for me? For you? For our children? I think so.
Did his mom have alzheimer’s?
wow! such applause! Triscuit looked like he ws having fun!
weird overreaction by the audience at the end
