Bangladesh protest organizers are giving authorities a two-day “ultimatum” to restore internet service and end curfew, after clashes between students, pro-government supporters and armed police killed dozens last week.
Why are Bangladesh students halting protests?
Nahid Islam, the leader of the group, told the French AFP news agency that the reversal of their protest calls was due to the high death tollin the unrest. “We started this movement for reforming the quota,” Islam said. “But we did not want quota reform at the expense of so much blood, so much killing, so much damage to life and property.” According to information from hospitals, nearly 150 people died in the protests. Police said on Monday that more than 500 people, including opposition politicians, have been arrested in the unrest in the capital, Dhaka.
What is the Bangladesh job quota?
The quotas originally reserved 30% of positions in the civil service for the families of people who fought for independence from Pakistan in the so-called Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971. The quota rules were scrapped by the government in 2018, but a court reintroduced the system last month. The move caused widespread anger, particularly among the country’s young people, who make up around a fifth of the population. The Supreme Court ruled that just 5% of civil service jobs would remain reserved for children of independence war veterans and 2% for other categories.

300 killed in less than one week and the students are happy the quota is withdrawn. How does that help. Over last 40 years the quota employees have built a network and officials now wilk devise method still to select chattra league n jubo league cadres in a manner you guys will never be able to fathom. So 300’dead in the shortest possible time- that does not happen even in airial bombing and you have acheived nothing
Foreign so-called mass media have hyped up the movement in Bangladesh by relying on various kinds of rumour-based news. Because of which so many deaths. They also have to take responsibility for this death. Israel is bombing and killing thousands of innocent Gazans, but these so-called media bastards are silent.

Not only the internet they stoped the mobile network. If everything is clam & ok why they don’t open the mobile network and internet. Police already killed 300 more students. People of Bangladesh don’t want this Government any more.
Please note the point that there’s no “Indian occupied Kashmir” as such… Kashmir is an integral part of India…

Whoever is reading this, similar circumstances are in Pakistan. Military establishment is controlling everything, from National Assembly, Senate, Supreme courts, high courts, civil services and all public sector institutes.
PTI the political party who got 90% of the votes in recent general elections is cornered by injecting a corrupt dummy government which ast as a proxy for establishment.
Whoever speaks or criticize is abducted and being killed if that person is a public figure then he / She will be persecuted with unlawful and unconstitutional police cases. Internet/calls are filtered, freedom of speech is just a dream in Pakistan.
P.S. Chief justice of Pakistan is a corrupt individual who laundered money to western countries and bought assets in his family name, and he was opposed by PTI 3 years ago and now he is in power and he’s working hard day and night to make sure PTI never gets any relief from the courts. If any Judge gives a relief to PTI in any high court he takes action and set aside the order.
