One Direction Speaks Out On Liam Payne’s Death: ‘Completely Devastated’

Liam Payne’s former bandmates are sharing their grief together. The singer’s fellow One Direction members issued a joint statement on his sudden death one day after he passed away from a three-story fall in Argentina on Oct. 16. He was 31 years old. Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson spoke out in collective sorrow over the tragic loss, telling fans they are “completely devastated by the news of Liam’s passing” and indicated that deeper thoughts are forthcoming. “In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say. But for now, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved dearly. The memories we shared with him will be treasured forever,” the statement read. “For now, our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and the fans who loved him alongside us. We will miss him terribly. We love you Liam.” The pop star fell from his balcony after a weeks-long stay in Buenos Aires, shortly after hotel staff placed a 911 call indicating their concern for a guest who was apparently under the influence and causing damage to their room. A preliminary autopsy report confirmed that Liam died of multiple injuries to his skull as well as internal and external hemorrhaging. His family also spoke out on his sad loss, saying he will be remembered as a “kind, funny and brave soul.” The musician is survived by his 7-year-old son, Bear, with ex Cheryl.
