What needs to happen is house builders need to employ trades and have there own apprentices . Not use self employed un motivated trades who have no holiday pay sick pay or redundancy.. They use middle men sub contractors who price the work then take a huge cut so not much left for the lads to do the work . So they work to fast and throw the work in .
Totally agree with you.
Bad builders Ruin Lives the let down after paying out so much on a new House Ruins Dreams they are nothing More than Thieves I would never go near a new Build again, Even having a builder in your home that’s not a new build is fraught with dangers of shoddy workmanship
Building industry has been FLOODED with foreign ( unqualified ) workers under EU rules who are prepared to work for minimum wage so pushing out local well trained fellas. What does everyone expect. Maybe now we have left the EU things may change. Should defo be a system where funds are held back post completion to motivate builders to act on snagging AND buyers should be allowed to have 3rd party professional snaggers come in PRE completion with the cost being passed on to the builder… ( after all builders make huge profits on every home they sell )
If the companies paid their builders a bonus for every property where there isn’t any problems then I would imagine it would alleviate a lot of the problems. The site managers are obviously not doing their jobs correctly to allow these houses to be handed over to the home owners.
Who signs these builds off, they are just as culpable.
