Tom Conway stars as Inspector Mark Saber of the Homicide Squad, with his sidekick Sergeant Tim Maloney, played by James Burke. In this case, a man is found murdered at the historical site of Don Miguel Alvarez. The murdered man was an artist who made a painting of the site. So why was he there, and why was he murdered in the first place. The Homicide Squad will surely solve this riddle. Airdate November 23, 1951. Cast includes Jack Kruschen, Herbert Rawlinson, June Vincent, Norman Budd, Herb Vigran, George Duchin, and Don Broidy. Complete with commercials as aired in 1951. Yes, you are correct. This 72 year old 16mm film has the dreaded “rust spot” deterioration. You can see the spots in the beginning of the titles in the picture area. These spots have migrated to the soundtrack and causes noise in the soundtrack. This is probably due to inadequate washing when the film was processed 70 plus years ago. We used 2 filters in Adobe Premier to tone down the noise, but since this is more than likely the only surviving film print of this episode, as they say “it is what it is.”

Apparently, Roland Reed was filming the series on a VERY tight budget.

A disgrace not to have given Willie Best a credit as Corpus.
He didn’t have much of a role in this episode. Willie was one of Roland Reed’s favorite actors, as he appeared frequently on Stu Erwin’s “TROUBLE WITH FATHER” and “MY LITTLE MARGIE”.
