Night Court was bomb.
Actors and Actresses back then seemed so natural even though they were not skilled.
And, unlike Charlemagne, Black people back then could be as intelligent as comedic. Shout to Dick Gregory. Charlemagne’s first thought was vulgar.
OMG. When she was on the original Night Court. She was big and mean. I always wanted to tame her. Me on top of her, be like a mouse on a leaf of bread.
I loved her in one of the most overlooked 90s black sitcoms, Smart Guy. She was the principal at least for a few episodes in the first season.
My parents were born in the 40’s and me in the early 90’s. I tried to come out to my mom as a lesbian and she cut me off mid sentence and said “its nobodys business!” I never brought it up again and hid it for the rest of her life. The fear in her tone, demeanor and word choice was from a place of genuine fear. That moment is why i was married to a man for 13 years and have a child. The only regret i have from that day is not asking questions and tried to gain some clarity. I will be 34 next year and have developed an irrational fear of romantically pursuing women and it makes me thoroughly unhappy in life. Therapy so far, has not healed me.
