Little Man Tate

Jodie Foster makes her directorial debut and stars; along with Dianne Wiest; “Little Man Tate” in this “stirring and magnificent portrait of the human spirit” (The Hollywood Reporter)! Fred Tate (Adam Hann-Byrd) is a gifted pianist; a math genius; an incredible artist…and he’s only seven years old. But this child prodigy is also adrift. Shunned by his peers and bored by his schoolwork; Fred is stifled by his environment. Desperate to encourage his potential; yet afraid he’ll miss out on a normal childhood; his single mom Dede (Foster) reluctantly allows a child psychologist (Wiest) to enroll Fred in a school for exceptional children. But when he’s rushed headlong into academia; Dede’s worst fears are realized – Fred is more isolated and alone than ever. And it’s up to Dede to become what little Freddy’s been looking for all along…a Mom. Harry Connick Jr.; David Hyde Pierce and Debi Mazar also star.

  1. I can’t imagine how lonely it is to have a mind so gifted and beyond comprehension to a regular person. It’s so sad and I can’t imagine how difficult it is for a parent to navigate, let alone a child.

  2. Always wanted to see this… worked at block buster when it hit video… i would have made sure to see it had i know Herry was in it… Foster is one of a kind.. i e always loved her.

  3. Watched this for the first time at 33 years old and I must say. Movies from this time just has that cinematic magic.
